Yamal Yidios is the CEO of Ytech. Under his leadership, Ytech has become one of the largest privately held real estate companies in Miami in terms of aggregate asset value. Ytech has invested in, developed and redeveloped more than 7,000 apartments in addition to single-family home subdivisions, and office projects in 25 cities, an effort involving more than $1.4 billion in capital and 12 million square feet of construction. At present, Ytech has a pipeline of more than $1 billion in luxury condominiums and mixed-use projects equating to 1.9 million square feet of future development across the southeastern United States.
As CEO, Mr. Yidios is responsible for Ytech’s strategic direction, the pursuit of new development opportunities, and the company’s culture. He provides Ytech with proper resources, including all capital and human resource requirements across all business platforms. Lastly, Mr. Yidios oversees the management and drives the company’s performance by taking an active role in Ytech’s core business functions.
Previously, he worked at a national real estate development firm, where he was project executive of multiple high-rise luxury condominium projects in South Florida, and at a global engineering company, where he was lead project engineer on projects such as The Villages, a master planned community in central Florida with 56,268 homes on more than 20,000 acres.
Mr. Yidios is a third-generation civil engineer and real estate developer who was born in Cartagena, Colombia. He holds an executive master’s degree for owner/president management from Harvard Business School. He also has a master’s degree in engineering with a focus on real estate development from the University of Florida, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering and graduated summa cum laude. The university named Mr. Yidios the Engineering Scholar of the Year, distinguishing him from several thousand graduating engineering students and making him the first Hispanic student to receive the award in the school’s history. He also earned a minor in applied physics and financial mathematics from Stetson University, where he played NCAA tennis.
He is a member of the Urban Land Institute and was selected by Forbes magazine to join its prestigious Real Estate Council. He also is a member of YPO. Over the years, he has served on the board of trustees of several art and cultural organizations, including the Coral Gables Museum.
He focuses philanthropic efforts on education, homelessness and underserved communities. Mr. Yidios gives time and resources to Chapman Partnership, which provides shelter and services for the homeless. He founded the Ytech Cares Fund, which distributes $1 million annually to provide rent-free housing to deserving families residing at Ytech multi-family communities. In addition, he sponsors educational organizations that help low-income children in his native Colombia.
Mr. Yidios and his company have received numerous awards for accomplishments in the real estate industry, including:
