Miami-based Ytech has officially broken ground on The Residences at 1428 Brickell, a 70-story, 195-unit residential tower designed by ACPV Architects and Arquitectonica. Set to become a prominent feature of the Miami skyline, it will be the world’s first high-rise partially powered by solar energy. The building integrates photovoltaic glazing into its façade, bringing a new level of sustainability to Miami’s luxury residential market.
“We’ve broken ground and have commenced construction of The Residences at 1428 Brickell on schedule. This marks a significant milestone as we work to deliver a project that exemplifies an unparalleled level of design, extraordinary craftsmanship, and meaningful innovation,” said Yamal Yidios, CEO of Ytech. “We will deliver residences that are best-in-class and sincerely thank the broker community and buyers from around the globe for their confidence in us to bring this vision to life.”
The Residences at 1428 Brickell will be the first luxury high-rise to incorporate photovoltaic glazing, using 500 solar-integrated windows along its west-facing façade. This “Solar Backbone” spans nearly 20,000 square feet of energy-producing glass and generates up to 175,000 kWh of clean energy annually, reducing an estimated 4,700 tons of CO₂ emissions and saving approximately 3,000 barrels of oil annually. The system, integrated into the windows, extends the panels’ lifespan to match the glass, offering an energy-efficient solution that seamlessly blends with the building’s aesthetic.
“This project has established a new benchmark for luxury living in Miami and exemplifies the best of what this city has to offer. Yamal Yidios’ vision created a superior design, impeccable craftsmanship, and a lifestyle that appeals to a truly discerning clientele that brokers and buyers worldwide have enthusiastically embraced. An ultra-luxury project like The Residences at 1428 Brickell reaching this construction milestone so quickly is powerful. We’re excited to continue building this legacy that will define the city’s skyline for years to come,” said Alicia Cervera Lamadrid, Managing Partner of Cervera Real Estate.
The Residences at 1428 Brickell brings a selection of ultra-luxury homes to the Miami market, with prices between $3 million and $7 million for two- to four-bedroom layouts spanning 1,800 to 4,000 square feet. Several residences feature two-story floor plans, providing a single-family home that feels high above the city. The centerpiece of the building is a $60 million penthouse with 30-foot ceilings, 7 bedrooms, 9 bathrooms, and two expansive balconies overlooking Biscayne Bay. The tower will also offer additional penthouses starting at $8 million, with sizes ranging from 4,000 to 10,000 square feet.
